Chateau Lagrave-Martillac 2012 - 65$

November 14, 2016
One week, one wine...

This week's wine selection features another Bordeaux wine: the Chateau Lagrave-Martillac 2012.

Second wine of Chateau Latour-Martillac, located in the heart of the Graves sub-region, this Pessac-Leognan favorite is meant to be quite aggressive in its style.

And indeed, even though it's "only" a second wine, it meets all the requirements of a Grand Cru de Graves: rich dark colors, superb aromas of blackberry, and a long, lingering taste that will make you forget a hard day at work! Not so many flavours pouring out of this wine after taste, but still a pleasant wine with almost no default (maybe a tiny bit too agressive in alcohol at swallow).

Full-bodied, complex, this wine pairs greatly with a nice steak, or alternatively with a hard-crust cheese.

Regarding music, I would recommend rock & roll! Eye of the tiger from Survivor has the strength to express what this wine makes you feel: like you're ready to move on and enjoy further!

It is already tannic, so no need to wait any longer to pop this baby open. All in all, a suprisingly good 2012, for 65 SGD a bottle!

Personal overall rating: 16/20

Smell: 3.5/4
No default: 3.5/4
Balance: 3/4
Length: 3/4
Depth: 3/4
